Persuading folks

I do end up having to make my case (I think it is a mom/marriage/grandma thing) most of the time. I guess some of the people around me do not think I know what I am talking about and so I have to have some back up to my reasoning and topics. For instance, "You don't want to be with a man who does not work" seems to come to mind! Now several years later and a broken heart and many jobs lasting 2 or 4 days, I am right. So now when I get to talk to other people able what kind of person to find, this topic will be one of the top 10 in a list of who to choose to be with as a life partner. The other part is "you don't want to eat 8 cookies before you go to bed or you will be sick", again, trying to have the person recall the last time we changed bed sheets in the middle of the night  to remove "tossed cookies" was just enough of a reminder with proof that it was an unwise decision and to steer clear of it. Some times I hate being right, and sometimes it would be great if they would just listen in the first place!
